A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, founded on the principle “Empowering with Values and Education,” is a reputed government-aided institution committed to women’s education and empowerment. Established in 1973 by the visionary philanthropist Kulapathi Sri. A.P.C. Veerabahu, the college is affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and has proudly celebrated its Golden Jubilee milestone.

Vision, Mission, and Leadership
Guided by the motto “Love, Knowledge, and Dharma,” the institution promotes value-based education and women’s empowerment under the leadership of Sri. A.P.C.V. Chockalingam and Smt. C. Subbulakshmi, while upholding inclusiveness, integrity, service, and a zero-capitation fee policy.

Academic Growth and Excellence
Over the past five decades, the institution has emerged as a distinguished centre for higher education and research, serving over 2,000 students with the support of more than 160 faculty members while promoting academic excellence and women’s empowerment. To enhance skill-oriented learning, the institution has offered 25 Short Term Programmes in collaboration with IECD, Bharathidasan University, Trichy and 13 certificate courses with IITM Pravartak, Chennai. Additionally, 18 MoUs have been signed with industries and institutions to strengthen internships, employability skills, and research collaboration.

Scholarships and Student Support
The institution provides scholarships for SC/ST/BC/MBC/DNC/Minority students through Government schemes. Students also benefit from the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and the Pudhumai Penn Scheme. In addition, the A.P.C. Mahalaxmi Ammal Memorial Scholarship supports economically backward students in pursuing higher education.

Sports Excellence
Consistent excellence in sports has been reflected through remarkable achievements in university-level and district-level tournaments. During the past six years, 72 players have represented the institution in the South Zone and All India Inter University Tournaments. The institution has consistently secured top three positions in tournaments conducted by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University over consecutive years.

Research Excellence
The college has 5 recognized research departments and 34 research supervisors guiding scholars in various disciplines. Since 2018, faculty members and scholars have produced 623 research papers. The institution has completed 27 funded research projects with a sanctioned amount of ₹1.69 crore. The college has awarded 179 Ph.Ds and currently supports 94 ongoing Ph.D registrations.
