In 2002, Chitkara Educational Trust established its Punjab campus, 30 kilometres from Chandigarh on the Chandigarh-Patiala National Highway. In 2010, Chitkara University was founded by the Punjab State Legislature under The Chitkara University Act.

Chitkara University, recognised as the best university in Punjab, is a government-recognised institution with the authority to confer degrees under Sections 2(f) and 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university is a multi-disciplinary, student-centric campus with over 30,000 students.

RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION: The university provides separate accommodations for boys and girls, with both AC and non-AC options available. The Wi-Fi-enabled rooms offer a comfortable, convenient living space. Caring wardens and tight security arrangements ensure a safe and pleasant stay, allowing students to focus on academics.
