PJTSAU named in honour and memory of Professor Jayashankar, an eminent educationist and an ardent Telangana ideologue, is the only Farm University of the Telangana State. It was established on 3rd September, 2014 with its headquarters at Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. PJTSAU has
the mandate to carry out teaching, research and extension activities.
University has three faculties namely Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering and Technology and Community Science offering UG, PG and Ph D programmes.
Research programmes and transfer of technology in cereals, millets, pulses, oilseeds and commercial crops are carried out in 15 research stations, nine District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centres (DAATTCs), eight Krishi Vignan Kendras (KVKs). Agricultural Information and Communication Centre (AI & CC), Extension Education Institute (EEI), Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) and Electronic Wing. Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship development was initiated under which an Ag-Hub foundation has been registered as a section 8 company to promote start-up culture among agriprenuers. The University has also obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification.

PLACEMENT : Placed as Scientists in SAUs, ASRB, Officers in the UPSC, TSPSC, AEO, AO, Field Officers in Nationalized banks, private and government organizations in the state and India.

HOSTEL : The students joining the colleges of the University mostly opt to stay in the hostels as most of the students are from rural background. All the hostels are provided with good boarding and lodging facilities. For overseas students, International Hostels with necessary amenities are provided. The girls and boys are housed separately in different hostels in each campus. The undergraduates share room on twin basis while the PG students are provided single rooms. The hostels are also equipped with indoor games and sports facilities. All the hostels are well maintained with
reading rooms, TV hall, internet and wifi facilities, dining halls, solar heating system, water purification plants and also gymnasium facility.
