Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Education Minister
Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ was born in 1959 in a remote village, Pinani of Pauri district of Uttarakhand. His early childhood lacked in many aspects due to his financially humble background. Despite this, the brilliance of his intellect stood out.
He initially served society as a teacher and later as a journalist. His political journey started in 1987 as the central spokesperson of the Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand) Sangharsh Samiti. In 1991, he was elected as an MLA from the Karnprayag Assembly. In 1996, for the first time, he became a Cabinet Minister in Uttar Pradesh.
With the establishment of the Uttarakhand state, he became the Finance Minister and was handed over 12 important departments. In the year 2007, he became the Cabinet Minister and in 2009 the Chief Minister of the State. He was elected as a member of the sixteenth Lok Sabha of India from Haridwar with an overwhelming majority of MPs. Re-elected from this Lok Sabha in the year 2019, he has now taken up the important responsibility of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
He is recognized in the country and abroad as a writer, litterateur, poet, sensitive thinker on the Himalayas and the Ganges. He has kept sensitive issues of Himalayas and Ganges in the Parliament. His contribution to Ganga cleanliness, especially by leading Sparsh Ganga campaign, has encouraged active public participation for the cause.
About 15 people has either completed or doing research on his literature. He has written more than 75 books. His books have been translated into every Indian and many foreign languages. More than 15 countries had honoured him. Our country is constantly benefiting from such an honourable Education Minister.
Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe joined All India Council for Technical Education as Chairman on 17th July 2015 .
Prof. Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati is currently Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe has held several important Academic, Research and Administrative positions at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Tata Consulting Engineers, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) and IIT Guwahati. He also served as Director, College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) since 2006 on deputation from IIT, Guwahati prior to joining as AICTE Chairman. As an academician and researcher in NERIST and IIT Guwahati, and as an administrator in the capacity of Director, CoEP, he has taken up several new initiatives for Academic, Curricular & Co-curricular activities, Entrepreneurship, Research and Good Governance.
He is Chairman, Basic Scientific Research (BSR), Empowered Committee of UGC & SWAYAM Board. He is Fellow of ISTE, IET, Institution of Engineers (IE), INAE.
He has been bestowed with several awards which include “Maha-Intrapreneur Award-2011” of Praj Industries, Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar (Life Time Achievement Award) from MIT World Peace University, Pune in 2019, Mahatma Gandhi Leadership award from Indian Achievers Forum and CSR Times (2019).

Microsoft and AICTE collaborate to skill students and educators in next generation technologies Over 900 course modules from Microsoft will be made available to students and educators free of cost through AICTE’s free e-learning portal
New Delhi, October 12, 2020: With a vision to provide uninterrupted online learning to millions of students across the country, the Government of India’s All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has partnered with Microsoft to empower learners and educators with future-ready skills.
As part of this partnership, over 900 course modules from Microsoft will be made available to students and educators free of cost through AICTE’s free e-learning portal, ELIS (free.aicteindia.org). Microsoft’s learning resource centre, Microsoft Learn has been integrated with the ELIS platform to provide access to personalized learning paths and resources for students, covering a broad range of technologies including AI, IOT, data science and cloud computing among others. The collaboration also gives educators access to best-in-class online learning paths and instructor-led training material through the Microsoft Learn for Educators platform. Eligible educators and faculty members can access Microsoft’s ready-to-teach curriculum and teaching materials aligned with industry-recognized Microsoft certifications. Commenting on this, Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India, said, “Our collaboration with AICTE reflects our commitment to building a strong skilling ecosystem in the country and ensure continuity in learning. COVID-19 has accelerated the need for upskilling and has shown clearly that the future of learning will be profoundly personalized and supported by technology. We are committed to empowering learners and educators across the country to skill themselves in emerging technologies and partner in the journey to thrive in a digital
future.”
Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, Ministry of Education, said, “Upskilling is very important to enhance employability opportunities for students. AICTE is happy to partner with Microsoft to help students get an opportunity to be hands-on with the latest technology and build products and services for the future.” Through this partnership, students will also get an opportunity to be hands-on with technology and build for the future with Azure for Students. Eligible students aged 18 and above can building apps, explore AI, and make the most of big data with access to more than 25 free Azure services along with $100 in Azure credit, renewable annually.
To make learning more interactive, Microsoft will host live webinars on next-generation technologies for students of AICTE. To ensure technology benefits everyone, Microsoft will also sponsor 1000 Microsoft Certification Exam Vouchers spanning different technologies for
students from underserved communities.
